Walking and water world at Myra falls in Muggendorf
Ponds, lakes and springs
Description
In the municipality of Muggendorf in the Vienna Alps, the Myra Falls plunge 125 meters into the depths. They have their source in the Myrabach, which rises 7 km away in the Unterberg - a limestone massif with many cavities.
Visitors follow the rushing water over 26 winding bridges and on numerous footbridges and steps. Every day, 5 million liters of water cascade down the rock steps, and the natural spectacle is particularly fascinating during the snowmelt.
At 11 themed stations, visitors can learn about the flora and fauna of the area and how energy was once generated here using hydropower. An excursion is particularly interesting for families with children. The little ones can enjoy a wildlife enclosure and a large playground with a climbing paradise, water playground and an adventurous raft ride on the Myra pond.
For public transportation on Sundays and public vacations during the summer vacations, a bus runs seven times a day from Pernitz train station to Muggendorf and back (every hour from 10:23 am - except 1:23 pm).
