Description
Friedrich Gauermann achieved great popularity in the Biedermeier period for his atmospheric landscape paintings. His depictions of animals are still considered unrivaled today. A museum was dedicated to him in his home town of Scheuchenstein in 1976.
In Miesenbach - just a stone's throw away from Friedrich Gauermann's birthplace - the Friedrich Gauermann Museum was opened in the old elementary school in 1976. The heart of the museum is the permanent exhibition on the first floor, which shows a chronologically arranged exhibition of the painter's work. Annually changing special exhibitions focus on specific themes and aspects of Gauermann's painting and the Biedermeier period.
The gallery on the 1st floor is reserved for contemporary art. Not only do regularly changing exhibitions of contemporary art take place here, the gallery is also a venue for events such as readings and concerts.
The museum also offers special daily packages for groups.
