Einhorn-Tropfsteinhöhle
Description
The Unicorn Cave at the foot of the Hohe Wand can be reached in around 20 minutes from Dreistetten. It was discovered by Otto Langer Sr. in 1927 and opened as a show cave just three years later. Today, you can take part in a guided tour on Sundays and public holidays from Easter to the end of September. Guided tours are also organized for larger groups outside of opening hours.
A tour of the 80-metre-long cave takes around 20 minutes. You can see stalactite formations around one meter high. In a niche at the side, you can marvel at a statue of Barbara and pearl sinter. Thousands of years ago, people from the Bronze Age lived here, as evidenced by finds as well as much older discoveries from the Pleistocene.
After a visit to the cave, the nearby Gasthaus Zitherwirt is a good place to stop for a bite to eat. Hot meals all day, a shady garden and a large parking lot make this an interesting destination for large groups.
