Details for: Hike to Kleine Kanzel (from Scheuchenstein)

Brief description

Beautiful hike from Scheuchenstein near Miesenbach to Kleine Kanzel on the Hohe Wand and to the Naturparkstüberl!

Description

The center of the nature park on the Hohe Wand can be reached from practically all directions. This hike starts from the northern side in Scheuchenstein near Miesenbach, where you find the Gauermannmuseum. Before the hike, you can refresh yourself at the Kirchenwirt. Then it goes up the mountain. On the Kleine Kanzel at 1092 meters elevation, you find the former guesthouse to Kleine Kanzel. This is the highest point of the Hohe Wand reachable by car. On the sun terrace, you enjoy a splendid panoramic view from Schneeberg to the Vienna Basin. An educational forest trail and wildlife enclosure are also nearby, as is the Naturparkstüberl. The guesthouse Naturparkstüberl is located in an impressive stone building which also includes an alpine and local history museum. As the name of the stüberl suggests, the nature park enclosures with llamas, alpacas, mouflons, reindeer, and a petting zoo are not far away.

The huts serve as starting points for numerous walks and hikes through the Hohe Wand Nature Park. The selection ranges from short rounds like the enclosure tour, the children's discovery trail, or the Schneeberg view round, which are especially suitable for families, to longer routes such as the Ötscher view round, the Wildenauer's Trail circular route, or the natural park circular hike.

Alternative ascents to Kleine Kanzel lead from Grünbach via the Wilhelm-Eichert-Hütte or from Maiersdorf via the Gasthaus Luf to the Hohe Wand.
